I thought Der Ring des Nibelungen would be staged every year at Bayreuther Festspiele.  But I was surprised to find that there is none this year.   This is a rather interesting tradition for the place to hold the annual festival consecutively since the 19th century.  And after checking on the internet, they said it's hard to book the ticket and reservation is made even 10 years in advance, and the booking must be made 8 months in advance by mail in writing form.  The ticket office does not accept email or on-line reservation either.  So there is very likely no chance for me to watch it insde the operahouse in 2012.  However, it seems the organizer has live broadcasting now. Thanks to the long day time in Europe, listening to the opera on the Festplatz should be wonderful experience.
