Atonement (2007)

I watched the end of Atonement again today, and it still brought me to tears. The ending is my favourite part in this movie. This is where I cried so hard when I saw it for the first time. I thought I wouldn't have been able to stop crying if my man had not been there around.

I like the way it ended in the movie more than the end in the book (a bit too lengthy). The interview with nothing in the background but all black, a close-up of Briony. We can focus on Briony's blue eyes, here facial expressions, the way she talks, and what she talks. It is so saddening and ironic that through all the years she found out the best way to repent her wrongdoing is by telling another lie. Only then could she bring them the happiness they deserved, which I could completely comprehend and deeply moved.

Dario Marianelli did a perfect job and wrote perfect music. I think I'll never get tired of watching this movie. My man always protests when I watch this film or listen to the music, because for him it is too heavy and too unbearable to watch and to listen to. Even though. Watching this movie is perhaps some kind of self-indulgence I guess.

And by the way, James McAvoy is sooo hot. I like him no matter in Atonement, X-men, The Last King of Scotland or even Wanted. Looking forward to more of his movies!!!!

後話:
some websites with rich information about Atonement. Analysis from the critics, interviews with the director and actors, etc. Good.
1) About the character Robbie Turner
2) More about Atonement, a JM fan blog with some pics from his previous stage performances
