其實我喜歡疏離感。也許這是我選擇留在城市裡的緣故。You're not too close to anyone, but they are just perfectly being around.
This is the case in Taiwan. The people in the countryside just proved to be too "passionate" and I don't like my business to be fulled around. I don't like intimate or intensive contact with those who "think" we are so familiar with each other, so familiar to the extent that they can fuss around with my business, the when-I-should-do-what sort of things. This is the source of fear living close to the people in some way I am related to.
In the big city, I can just enjoy the time being a nobody. No contact, just oblivion, but not too far away from the connection to the "real world" either. I have the freedom of doing things the way I'd like it to be. And I don't have to deal so much with people.
Yes, this is my weakness. I like the sense of seclusion. But it is rather a state of mind than the physical distance from people. Sometimes one can be just miles away from people that they actually hang around all day long with. But those that drifted apart so distant from each other are so connected together.
