Slumdog Millionaire

I did not find it very touching (perhaps I'm cold blood). The plot is not new or any creative. But it combines various elements and presents the other part of the world that we are not familiar with. It is indeed successful in terms of providing entertainment, and that shoudl be why it is so welcomed and receives critical acclaim in the Western world.
Its success should owe much to its Indian settings. But is the story/movie truthfully describes the Indian society? Or it only views the world from an outsider's view? Or the movie just resorts to Indian flavor to spice itself up (though the movie is based on its original novel)? After all, Bollywood itself has been the busiest and very mature movie manufacturer already. And most people go to the movie theatre to look for their enjoyment and escape from the real world. It is too painful to watch a film like "Revolutionary Road" or too hopeless as in "The Dark Knight".
