Veronika decide morrer - Paul Coelho (1998)

This is the book I recently finished. I read Paul Coelho's "The Alchemist" (1988) for the first time when I was in the middle of the big Mongolian grassland. One of my teammate brought this book with her. She didn't really read the book and I borrow it from her. I didn't feel much when I read it for the first time. Two years ago, I borrowed it from another friend. I was thinking about reading it again. But it took me another year to re-read the book. I thought about reading it because of my little brother. The book is about one's dream and courage to have dreams and to bring it into reality.
The second book, "Veronika decides to die". I would like to know what it talks about because it is about the value of life. Why does she want to die? What changes her so that she does not want to die anymore? On top of that, it is also about madness and lucidity. After fisihing the book, I know why Veronika no longer thinks about ending her life. However, what happened to her is a very occasional experience and can hardly be applied to anyone else in the real world.
The recurrent theme in both books is the courage of going on to an adventure. This would be the critical point why ordinary people cannot make such changes to their life. Most of the time we sit and envy others' career and life. The bright side is always visible and glimmering. But few shares the pains of making hard decisions, and even fewer can understand the pains.
I cannot finish this book and say now I have the courage to make changes to my life. I am still looking for other stories with the same topic, around life and death, or more specifically, around suicide. It has occupied me for several years. Also I am still curious about how people value their own lives. Some people care so little. They hurt themselves and hurt people around them. The easiest of all is to get away from this world. I do agree. To stay alive is the most challenging task in one's life.
